Test your Platform
You first planned it, then built it, and now let’s test your eLearning Platform.

Start Here
Install user switching plugin
The basic idea is that you want to be able to switch back and forth between the admin point of view and the student’s point of view constantly while testing.
Create one test user
Create one test user for each membership level using different emails then write these access details down. You want to be logging into your platform as them and have a look around and see all is there as you planned.
Do not test while being logged in as admin
Do not test while being logged in as admin, ideally open two windows, one incognito (student point of view) one regular (admin point of view)
You want to be able while testing to switch back and forth between these two to adjust settings and options if needed.
Membership level test
Test the complete upgrade path
if you have various membership levels and learners can upgrade from one level to the next, test the complete upgrade path and see if all emails arrive correctly and all links work correctly.
Simulate a real conversation experience
if you have conversations and use the PLM, create a real test scenario that involves more than one person and simulate a real conversation experience.
Setup notification
Make sure all notification email settings are set up correctly and look and contain all content as intended.
Tip: make sure you have a clear idea and picture of how your platform is supposed to work before you test it.
Platform Navigation test
Can each user navigate the site properly and access all the areas/portals and courses and content properly.
Setup site Menu
Is the menu working correctly? How does the menu look like for each user when he’s logged in, how does it look when he’s logged out.
Setup Gamification
did you add gamification? Go through the entire gasified experience from the students’ point of view and see if badges are correctly awarded.
Setup Certification
Do you certify your students? Go through the whole certificate assignment procedure from the students’ point of view.
PLM Test
Do you use the PLM? Test the learner profile features you activated like conversations and uploads from the student’s point of view.
In essence, these are the questions you want to answer:
Does each user of each membership level have access to the correct content?
If he upgrades, will he get access to all the content that is assigned to each membership level?
Does the enrollment/signup process work correctly?
Does the membership upgrade journey work correctly?
Does the purchase process work correctly?
Are the subscriptions being created correctly?
Are the payments being processed properly?
Are all emails firing correctly?
Are certificates being assigned properly?
Are badges being assigned properly?
Do the gamification elements work as planned?
Are conversations working correctly?
Are all eLearnCommerce native notifications sent out properly?
While you do all of this, have an eye on the Platform health and see that you’re platform is healthy and running well.
In case it detects issues, use the one-click resolutions to solve them.
TWO WAYS TO GO ABOUT THIS
WAY1: work with your team; one builds one tests. You can be a one-person team that does it all.
Way 1 is the way to go if you have a precise idea of how it should all work.
WAY2: Let a small number of members in and make them an offer: I let you in for % lower amount, and you help me iron out all the bugs and issues.
Way 2 is excellent if you aspire to create a platform that is totally in tune with the needs of your audience.
Note
Circling back to the eLearning Platform Planner!
be clear about what your V1 needs to look and work like and only test as much as possible on a fixed frame. ( i mean when you do tests you want to test on the finished version of V1 of your Platform)
be clear about what type of Platform you are building before testing because testing a very simple content centered Platform that uses the eLearnCommerce Native authentication options can take 5 minutes.
Testing an advanced coaching platform that uses the PLM can take a few days.
